Orlando’s music is mostly upbeat and danceable, often having a meaningful message.
His lyrics ring true to the real world. The subject matter is unique and often humorous.
”Roots, Rock “n” Rhythm”, the title of his latest album is how he defines his style of play.
Orlando began his involvement in music with formal drum lessons while in high school, followed by a short stint as a drum teacher. Quite by accident, he picked up a guitar in his early twenties and began singing at campfires, house parties, and a handful of informal gigs. He carried on with this hobby (without any music lessons) while working in a career of sales marketing (Insurance, Commercial Investment Real Estate, Air Canada Cargo, and as the sales director for two major land developers, etc.) During that time he also promoted several amateur talent events in the city of Edmonton, AB, Canada where he introduced two shining teenage stars to the stage. One man became a singer songwriter/ recording artist, and the other, went on to becoming the number one Elvis impersonator in the world.
In his early 40’s Orlando began self-employment as a small player buying and selling his own real estate investments. Serious music lessons (rhythm guitar and vocals) began at the age of 44, as well as composing music and recording his own works with producer Henry Piovesan in Vernon, BC, Canada. It is Orlando’s belief that each one of us should make a serious investment in ourselves and our passions as we go through life. He has finally demonstrated this philosophy by living on a meagre income for 20 years in order to invest in first class recordings of his music. Orlando has written and produced two albums containing a total of 28 songs and has plans to release even more tunes in the future.
LIVE PERFORMANCES: Orlando has wintered each year in Mexico since 1996 and it is there where he has carried on with most of his live performances. He began playing alone with only his guitar (no backing tracks) once each week in the same restaurant for 10 years to a full house of about 60 patrons. Following that he assembled a 5 piece Dine and Dance band called the “L. A. Connection”. They have been performing in the same beach front restaurant since 2014, one hour north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Orlando is a master in the field of sales and the psychology of marketing. His entrepreneurial spirit was first harnessed by his father who began directing him into various small business projects when he was a young boy. Orlando has made a career of selling a wide variety of products and services as well as recruiting, managing and motivating sales personnel.
